H. Hoki (Artist-in-residence)
Hoki graduated with a B.A in Political Science and Southeast Asian Studies from National University of Singapore in 1998 and obtained a first class honours degree in Multimedia Art from University of Central England in 2002. A self-taught artist with a versatile mind, he had conceptualised and created corporate websites, designed paraphernalia for corporate branding and product launches and, assisted in the script and production of an animated series by a local start-up.
Seed, a cartoon about life in a post-apocalyptic world which was made in 3 weeks with two of his classmates, was honoured with a Merit Award (Open Category) for computer animation at Comgraph, Singapore in year 2003. Fuelled by a burning passion for filming, he wrote, directed and lensed a 20-minute short film, “The Butterfly People”. Although it was made with a paltry budget of S$1500 and backed by a cast of theatre actors, who also doubled as his crew, the film became a selected entry to the 8th Thai Short Film and Video Festival in year 2004.
Today, Hoki continues to pursue his passion for film-making under Nachomotion's label.
